Mica ShiftMica Shift is a technique for metallic and pearl polymer clay, when mica powders present in these clays are aligned in different directions forming monochromatic designs with holographic effects. To create the mica shift effect, metallic or pearl polymer clay is first rolled through a pasta machine a number of times to align the mica powder particles, then an image is created on the surface of the clay with a rubber stamp, raised parts of the image are sliced off with a blade, and then the obtained polymer clay sheet is smoothed with a brayer, baked, sanded, and buffed. |
